Many people have asked me, “Why should I invest in Gold?”, well based on that I decided to write this post on the subject matter. I am going to share with you the unique properties of gold and why I think it is a good investment. You will discover why investors are investing in gold today.

Value Retention
I find this the most interesting thing about gold. Gold unlike paper currency never depreciates in value. Unlike other assets whose value depreciates with time, gold instead of depreciating always appreciates in value.
Anti-inflation
Historically when there is inflation i.e. increase in the cost of living, people usually flock to the security of gold. This is because gold price always increases whenever there is increase in the cost of living. Unlike other asset, the reverse is the case. The recession in Nigeria today cannot affect the price of gold, rather in times like this gold price increases. No wonder investors in Nigeria are seizing this opportunity to invest in gold.
Universal Currency
Do you know that gold could be exchanged for money in any bank in world?, if you don’t, well now you know. Republican US president and billionaire businessman Donald Trump will accept today gold bullion instead of dollars for a lease deposit from his newest tenant in one of his marquee properties, 40 Wall Street, a 70-story skyscraper in Manhattan’s Financial District that at one time was the tallest building in the city, even Trump knows the value of gold.
Increase In Demand
The demand of gold is on the increase all over the world. Due to the increased wealth of emerging market economies, the demand for gold is on the increase. In many of these countries gold is intertwined into the culture. India is one of the largest gold consuming nations in the world; it has many uses there, including jewelry. Also in China, where gold bars are a traditional form of savings, the demand for gold has been steadfast.
Demand for gold has also grown among investors. Many investors are taken advantage of this demand, having in mind that they can never loss investing in gold because it’s value never depreciates.
Cannot be Destroyed
Gold cannot be destroyed by fire, flood etc. This is one reason I find so interesting, unlike other asset like house, cars, company etc. which can be destroyed by one way or the other, gold is one asset that can stand the taste of time still retaining its value.
